sorry, i know this is way too old of a comment, but it struck such a chord in me, that i felt compelled to say i share in your amazement.i don't get it either. i walk past asian girls like nari everyday at college without so much as a second thought, yet i always see these white and latino dudes turn their heads and stare like a celebrity walked by.
