Hey the first tune that they play is a song called Ballade and this jazz is under the genre of swing/bebop. Enjoy!

The best Jazz solos for both of them. Coltrane must have been very grateful to Hawk and Bird.

Just because you don't comprehend or enjoy something doesn't make it "random." Everything you're hearing here is built on solid chordal and harmonic foundations. Every note makes sense in a very tangible, explainable way. The beauty of jazz is that, even though it seems arcane and inaccessible at first (and I'm a layman myself), it proves not to be that way at all once you open up your soul and just listen. It is coldly logical, emotionally deep, and playfully whimsical, all at once!

Hi, can someone enlighten me as to what tune the first saxophonist is playing? Also which subgenre of jazz isit most appropriately classified under? Thanks a bunch.

To ALL the Sound Techs...Want to make a lot of money? Start a business where you take these vintage music films and SYNC up the sound to match the film. Shouldn't be too hard, right? But there are SO MANY of these films where the sound and the film do not match each other. I KNOW some of them were "lip synced". I am talking about the films where the sound and video were recorded together. I SO WISH someone would undertake the project of PROPERLY restoring these by syncing the sound w/the film.
