I'm sorry to be rude, but do you know anything about this disorder? Because to me, you sound like an opinionated idiot who just doesn't take psychology seriously.

Remember that Fight Club is a FICTIONAL take on DID. It was created to be entertaining and interesting, not to paint a true image of what DID is REALLY like in reality. Artistic license, you know? A writer can take influence from the real, but he is then free to let his imagination reshape it for his novel, if he wants. This is really what Chuck Palahniuk did with DID in Fight Club, IMO.

There is no " they are" or " they aren't" when it comes to DID.Like all disorders, it's individually unique. All human beings are different, so don't let a diagnostic manual make you think we all experience something as complex as a mental disorder the same way. Also consider at different stages of integration, the personalities will all have different levels of awareness, including the dominant. DID is not clear cut, not matter how learned you are in psych. It is a controversial condition.

actually only the dominant personality is aware of the other personality (whether or not it is the most common personality but the strongest)

The person I was with at the time would tell me about what would happen during my black outs. I was encouraged to start therapy. That is when I became aware of them and the process of healing began.
