I like the idea of using KOH as antifreeze so last night I decided to test 4 tablespoons (in flakes) in a litre is distilled water in the real outside cold. For 12h the temperature went from -17c to -20c back to -15c with a a lot of wind (that was in CAN). The solution was slushy but I was able to put a knife through it easily where most of the centre was still water. I think that is good enough for the generator to start working properly.

Hello, kindly would you tell me what it does? Would it work with antifreeze? Would it be possible to use the antifreeze reservoir to place the cell?

Thank you. :-)

My bad. OK I made a mistake. You are not changing the properties of water but adding something to the water that is totally different than how water reacts to temperature

Next time you're in an automotive store, pick up a gallon jug of antifreeze and look at what it does to affect the boiling temp.

If you change the properties of water it changes it on both ends. You can not lower the freezing point and raise the boiling point. I hope you saying it raises the boiling point was a misspoken words. It you add something to lower the freezing point so it freezes at lower temperatures it will also lower the boiling point.

i heard that denatured alcohol is supposed to keep the cell and bubbler from freezing has anyone tried this yet? you could use 110v heat tape
